Measured Planning
We measure twice, note what is out of square, and design storage around the things you actually own.
Home / About Us
Our story
GA Home Guide began as a small finishing crew that kept being asked to stay for the next room. Homeowners did not want a new house. They wanted the kitchen to stop arguing with the cook, the bath to feel safe underfoot, and the paint to look like a decision instead of a patch.
We still work that way. A lead stays with the job, samples are judged in the room they belong to, and the written scope is the thing we build. Over the years the studio has grown to include design, carpentry, paint, flooring, lighting, and the coordination that keeps those trades from stepping on one another.
We do not chase empty houses or speculative showpieces. The work we like best is the occupied home: kids’ backpacks by the door, a favorite chair that must be protected, a neighbor who shares a wall. Improvement, for us, means the house works better on an ordinary Tuesday.
Plan A ConversationWhat we stand for
Improvement is not only the week of demolition. It is the advice six months later when a finish needs a seasonal clean, and the honest note when a repair is wiser than a remodel.
How the studio helps
We measure twice, note what is out of square, and design storage around the things you actually own.
Carpentry, tile, and trim are sequenced so wet work dries before finish carpentry begins.
Switches, task lights, and quiet fans are placed before paint so walls are not opened twice.
Paint, stain, and hardware are sampled together so the room reads as one decision.
Decks, entries, and garden edges are detailed for weather, drainage, and the way you come home.
We leave a simple care sheet: what to wipe, what to wax, and when a finish should be looked at again.
Clear writing comes before pretty boards. If a wall is out of plumb, we say so. If a product will be hard to clean, we say so before it is ordered. If a smaller repair will solve the problem, we recommend the repair.
Respect for the household is part of the craft. Shoes, dust, radios, and the hour we arrive are discussed at the start. Shared stairs and entries are left broom-clean at the end of each day.
We are a fit for households who want a named lead, a written scope, and finishes chosen slowly. We are a fit for one-room projects and for homes that need several rooms to feel related again.
We are less of a fit for overnight flips or work that must skip samples. Good improvement takes the time the materials actually need.

In their words
“They talked us out of moving a wall that did not need to move, and spent the budget on light and storage. The room feels larger without being larger.”

“The care sheet after the bath was as useful as the tile. We know what to do when the glass spots, and we have not had to guess.”
